On 14th January 2005 new Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulations came into being, with regards to selling and recommending insurance, including pet policies. These regulations have a direct affect on breeders when homing kittens as they are no longer able to advise or sell pet insurance, not even the customary 6 weeks free insurance. Some breeders may now issue a voucher for free insurance, but this does not give the same cover as the original scheme.
